Compassionate Cremation Services in Essex

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to arrange a funeral, we are here to help and to listen. Speak to the compassionate Freedom Funerals team about cremation services in Essex to take the first step in planning your loved one’s memorial.

Many people opt for a cremation over a burial when it comes to a funeral, and we take great care to ensure that every service that we arrange is held with all the dignity that you would hope for. As well as the cremation itself, we will conduct a simple, respectful service, which itself can be tailored however you wish with your own flowers, readings and music, so mourners need only arrive and celebrate the life of the loved one who has passed on, together, with no additional worries to think about.

What happens at a cremation?

A cremation service is often quite similar to a funeral where someone is buried; usually are attended by friends and family of the deceased and feature some form of ceremony (whether religious or not) which is led by an officiant. Features such as songs, readings and more can be chosen by the mourners to be as personal as possible for the one whose life they are celebrating. At a cremation, instead of the coffin being lowered into the ground in burial, at the end of the service it will be obscured from view with a curtain or taken to another room; the process of cremation will take place shortly thereafter, but away from the attended service – mourners will not be present for this part. Often both types of service will be followed by a wake; with a cremation, ashes can be kept or scattered in a place of the family’s choosing or perhaps placed in a garden of remembrance.
